14th Friday March
Workshop at Handai (Osaka University) will be held on 14th Friday March. The workshop is part of a week-long visit by a UK research delegation, co-organised by the British Consulate-General in Osaka, Osaka University PARC, and the University of Southampton’s Centre for Photonics Metamaterial. As well as presenting some of the leading research in this field in both countries, it is expected that the event will lead to significantly increased collaboration between researchers in Japan and Britain. To promote cooperation in areas of mutual interest, the Optoelectronics Research Center, University of Southampton, and the Photonics Advanced Research Center of Osaka University agreed MoU in 2012. After the workshop at Handai, nature cafe "Light-enabled technologies of the future" (British Consulate-General, Nature Photonics, Nature Asia, Nature Cafe, Okinawa Inst. of Tech.) is scheduled at KNOWLEDGE SALON 7th floor Knowledge Capital, Grand Front in Downtown Osaka from 17:30. 10th and 11th March
The workshop will be held on 10th and 11th March beforehand at British Tokyo embassy. The program is as follows (click to enlarge);
1st March 2013: Prof. N. Zheludev (University of Southampton) visited PARCProfessor Nikolay Zheludev, the Deputy Director of the Optoelectronics Research Centre, University of Southampton visited PARC on 1st March and had a nice meeting with our professors to strengthen our partnerships based on the MoU we've agreed. Possible UK-Japan workshop on Nanophotonics was also discussed. After the meeting, a brief PARC tour held at Nanophoton Corporarion , IDEC Corporation, Prof. Kawata Lab., Prof. Takahara Lab. and Prof. Verma Lab.
